“Doane made a bold decision to start an engineering program, and nestled in the historic professional development setting at Doane, the engineering program has thrived. We have seen tremendous growth and success from our program graduates, and companies hiring our students have noted their excellence in decision making, problem-solving, communication, work ethic, teamwork, and leadership qualities. The emphasis on critical thinking and self-learning means that our graduates built a reputation for being trainable and careef-ready. Companies hiring Doane students tend to come back for more because we outshine other programs in the Midwest. We aren’t just another degree. We are setting the expectations for what students should get out of a degree.
The cost of education has increased dramatically in the past few decades. Gifts from donors help improve the student experience without putting the cost burden directly onto the students. In addition, donations help faculty obtain the resources needed to advance research, develop professional skills, and develop proficiencies that we pass along to students to help them grow.
Our engineering program has proven itself to be a stalwart in the region. We continue to see increased enthusiasm and interaction between industry partners and our current students. As we grow our program and the university, we can expand our offerings, recruit more students, and bring the Doane Difference to more individuals in the Midwest and beyond. We can take on more rigorous projects and better prepare students for success while pursuing internationally relevant research interests and areas where undergraduate students are able to have a direct impact. I am excited to see how Doane Engineering can continue to grow!”
